Lovely Vivian Creek descends from massive Mount San Gorgonio, flowing through a lush alpine wonderland of meadows and old growth trees, before cascading spectacularly in a series of waterfalls to the Mill Creek Valley floor over 1000′ below. The Vivian Creek Trail is well-graded and easy to follow with plenty of parking at the trail head. And while there’s a pretty steep trail segment to get over the Mill Creek Valley canyon wall – a 1000′ elevation gain in 1 mile – it’s well worth it once you arrive at the remarkably beautiful alpine paradise above. Note that this trail can be followed all the way to the summit of 11,500′ Mount San Gorgonio, and this route offers the shortest – albeit the steepest – route to the summit.
