As many are probably now aware, a major new fire is now burning in the Angeles National Forest. The fire has been named the Cabin Fire, and is burning in San Gabriel Canyon along Highway 39. The fire began at 1:07 PM on Friday 8/14, and has now grown to over 2,500 acres with 0% containment. State Route 39 was closed at the north end of Azusa, at Old San Gabriel Canyon Road. The closure was announced by the Azusa Police, citing the California Highway Patrol. The closure would last for “an indefinite period of time.”
