Here we explore a wild canyon in the Mt Baldy area, searching for new adventures, and also for new canyoneering opportunities. There is evidence of locals hanging out at the waterfalls, as there are ropes in certain spots and other signs of minimal use. However as a canyoneering adventure this one may not have been descended before.
There is at least one 70′ to 80′ sheer waterfall and a small multi-tier fall of about 40′ total below that. It is quite beautiful but simultaneously extremely wild. We climbed a steep draw and were able to drop in to the canyon above the large fall, but beyond the 70′ fall the canyon is clogged sufficiently with fallen trees and brush to make travel non-trivial. However, by ascending the ridge above the canyon we discovered a drop in point about .5 mile further back. There may be more waterfalls in the canyon between this further back drop in point and the large fall mentioned above, but that is a future adventure that requires full canyoneering gear in order to explore the canyon fully. It would definitely be a worth while canyoneering adventure if there are a couple more like the sheer faced 70 footer!
